Whāngai Pepe breastfeeding support service offers support to whānau in the Hutt Valley from the antenatal time through to having an older baby. Support is offered in the home or in our clinic room.
There are three Lactation consultants available as well as a specialist Breastfeeding educator who can offer education sessions to the health and allied workforce.
The Breastfeeding Support Service aims to improve infant health and wellbeing by providing mothers, babies and their wider whānau with breastfeeding information, guidance, education and mentoring and nutrition assistance. Clients may be referred to the service through:
- Well Child Tamariki Ora Services.
- Primary Health Care Services (GPs).
- Lead Maternity Carers.
- Community agencies and services.
The service is based in the Hauora Complex at 148 Whites Line East.
The Breastfeeding Support Service is led by Milly Carter, an experienced Lactation Consultant and nurse.
