Kairaranga support is delivered through an iwi-led, kaupapa Māori approach

that places tamariki and whānau at the centre of decision-making. The service

supports whānau to explore and strengthen whakapapa connections — identifying

hapū, iwi, and wider whānau who may be able to offer safe, loving care for

tamariki where appropriate. The Kairaranga team takes a holistic view, working

closely with whānau to ensure their voices are heard and their aspirations reflected

in whānau plans. These plans are shaped by the needs and goals of each

whānau, with the ultimate aim of keeping tamariki within their whānau and

ensuring the right supports are in place to nurture wellbeing and stability.
